2 dead, 4 hurt in predawn dump truck accident in QC

At least two people were reported killed while four others were injured after a dump truck they were riding crashed after a predawn chase in Quezon City Thursday.

Radio dzBB's Roland Bola reported the victims' dump truck rammed a parked dump truck while eluding police on Payatas Road in the city.

The report said rescue workers needed at least an hour to extricate the bodies of three of the victims from the wreckage, while the other three victims were thrown off the truck.

Of the three pinned victims, two died while one was in critical condition. The victims were not immediately identified in the dzBB report.

A report on dzXL radio said the chase started when the dump truck (TRF-727), which was heading for a landfill in Rodriguez town in Rizal province, sideswiped a sport-utility vehicle (SUV) on Commonwealth Avenue.

The SUV driver chased the dump truck on Litex Road, and stopped by a police checkpoint to ask for help in the pursuit.

The chase continued on Payatas Road but ended abruptly when the dump truck hit another dump truck (RHT-352) parked by the roadside.

On impact, three people, one of them a 12-year-old, riding at the back were thrown off the truck, while the other three were pinned, the report added. — LBG/RSJ, GMANews.TV
